This Backcountry Life is all about life learning, independent living and self empowerment. 

Here we will share our own experiences as a homeschool family forging a life in the wilderness. We show you practical cost effective techniques for self sufficiency and nature connected learning. Growing food, adventure, philosophy, health and ways to move towards self autonomy and away from a system of increased dependence.

We share ideas about living off the land, and self sufficiency. Whether it be education, crafts, do it yourself projects, cooking, gardening …anything which encourages self empowerment!

As a family who’s been homeschooling from preschool to school leaving and beyond, we offer support to others interested in learning more about homeschooling. We know there is a growing need for this kind of space with eligible school age learners choosing to opt out of a public school system which doesn’t appear to be meeting its promise of success.
